4th Waterloo Scouts located at the 1st United Church on the corner of King and William in downtown Waterloo Ontario Canada
"Hey" Its about the Youth, Always !
Local program costs for 4th Waterloo relies on local fundraising and donation's to cover costs like program supplies , books , badges , equipment (eg Tents ) camp rental fees , local outing subsidies and in the past ,local fundraising has allowed group to partially subsidize registration fees so fundraising happens in the fall shortly after the program starts
APPLE DAY ( just one Weekend )
Friday Saturday Sunday following thanksgiving weekend
this is our easiest and most lucrative fundraiser , but requires participation of our youth / parents / leaders it just means having enough youth to available to cover sites in our groups area for a few hours each day ,requesting a donation to scouting and giving out a healthy apple as a thank you , the public is quite generous ,many remembering their good times in scouting
Sales need to be completed by the end of October
Our groups second best fundraiser. we earn about 40 % from sales and some additional money goes directly to Scouts Canada from the popcorn vendor(trails End ) . this fundraiser requires more work from parents and youth some youth enjoy selling and the opportunity to win p[prizes and gift cards on higher volume sales.
GROCERY GIFT CARDS
the past couple of year, Even with the success of apple days and popcorn sales we have been coming up short covering our program expenses ,and registration subsidies ,having to rely on reserve funds so grocery cards are another fundraising initiative that comes at no real cost - profit from purchasing grocery gift cards,Thanks to our group commissioner (Carl) who finances large volume purchases of grocery gift cards that are made available to charitable organizations at a reduction of 4-5%, we can still sell to families at face value . so you get the full value of the grocery purchase and our group gets the 4 - 5 % to put toward program costs ( 500$ of grocery cards net $20 to $25 )
